Harpo returns with new music!

With renewed energy, new music and a clean bill of health, Harpo is ready to step back into the spotlight. First out is the single Sleepwalkin’ – a dreamy, reflective pop song that marks the beginning of a brand-new chapter. Out Friday, September 26, 2025.

After a year of silence, Harpo is finally back – healthy, strong, and creative. The new single Sleepwalkin’ marks not only a musical return but also a personal awakening. It’s a song born from childhood reflections and adult experiences – with that unmistakable Harpo-esque pop sensibility we recognize from hits like Moviestar, Horoscope and Motorcycle Mama, but now with new shadows, fresh shimmer, and an updated expression.

“Music has carried me, even when it felt like sleepwalking. It’s great to be back on track again, because there’s always a way forward”, says Harpo.

Over the past year, Harpo has battled cancer. A series of surgeries and an extended period of intensive treatment put life on hold – but not his creativity. Now, having officially been declared cancer-free, he’s back with renewed energy and a longing to reconnect with his audience – through new music and upcoming live performances.

The Sleepwalker’s Story

Sleepwalkin’ is the first single from Harpo’s upcoming project Retro Store – sessions that in many ways reflect a musical restart, while still looking back. The song has its roots in Harpo’s childhood memory of a neighbor who walked in their sleep, a phenomenon that both fascinated and scared him.

“The idea that someone can move through the world without being awake, without knowing it, that stuck with me. As a child, I wondered: What if I start sleepwalking… what would happen then? Sleepwalking is my version of that, maybe also about being a bit lost but still moving forward.”

Musically, Sleepwalkin’ is a return to his roots. The song – like the rest of Retro Store – is written on electric guitar, just as Harpo did in the ’70s. This gives it a distinctly glam-like energy reminiscent of his early sound, but with a fresh and organic approach. The recordings were made live in the studio together with handpicked musician friends – from Stockholm to the southern countryside – creating a sense of presence and joy that runs through the entire production.

“This is back to the roots – but with everything I carry with me today. The songs have lived in real rooms, with real musicians, in real moments.”

A New Beginning

Sleepwalkin’ is just the beginning. Over the coming year Harpo plans to release more music from the Retro Store sessions, and to take the stage once again. For an artist who for decades has moved between pop, rock, folk tradition, and playful poetic seriousness, this is yet another chapter in an already colorful story
